چکیده

We analyze the equations of radiation hydrodynamics under the approximations of flux-limited diffusion and a thermal radiation field, and derive the minimal set of evolution equations that includes all terms that are of leading order in any regime of non-relativistic radiation hydrodynamics. Our equations are accurate to first order in v/c in the static diffusion regime. We give the equations in a conservation law form well-suited to implementation in numerical algorithms. Our work improves on previous zeroth order derivations of the equations by retaining differences between laboratory frame and comoving frame quantities, which are neglected at zeroth order. We compare our equations to the zeroth order equations, and show that in certain regimes the zeroth order equations omit terms that are formally of leading order. We discuss the circumstances under which this will produce significant errors. For systems in the static diffusion regime, our analysis of the equations suggests an algorithm for numerical solution that is both simpler and faster than earlier methods. We implement this algorithm in the Orion adaptive mesh refinement code, and demonstrate it in a few simple test problems. Subject headings: hydrodynamics — methods: numerical — radiative transfer

COSMOS: A Radiation-Chemo-Hydrodynamics Code for Astrophysical Problems

We have developed a new massively-parallel radiation-hydrodynamics code (Cosmos) for Newtonian and relativistic astrophysical problems that also includes radiative cooling, self-gravity, and non-equilibrium, multi-species chemistry. Several numerical methods are implemented for the hydrodynamics, including options for both internal and total energy conserving schemes. Radiation is treated using...

Equations and Algorithms for Mixed Frame Flux-limited Diffusion Radiation Hydrodynamics

Our equations are accurate to first order in v/c in the static diffusion regime. In contrast,...

Multi fluidity and Solitary wave stability in cold quark matter: core of dense astrophysical objects

Considering the magneto-hydrodynamic equations in a non-relativistic multi uid framework, we study the behavior of small amplitude perturbations in cold quark matter. Magneto-hydrodynamic equations, along with a suitable equation of state for the cold quark matter, are expanded using the reductive perturbation method. It is shown that in small amplitude approximation, such a medium should be co...

Explicit-Implicit Scheme for Relativistic Radiation Hydrodynamics

Relativistic flows appear in many high-energy astrophysical phenomena in which the magnetic field has a crucial role in dynamics. For example, magnetic fields connecting an accretion disk with a central star, or, different points of accretion disks are twisted and amplified due to the differential rotation, launching jets. Also magnetic fields play an important role in accretion disks to transp...

Local characteristic algorithms for relativistic hydrodynamics

Numerical schemes for the general relativistic hydrodynamic equations are discussed. The use of conservative algorithms based upon the characteristic structure of those equations, developed during the last decade building on ideas first applied in Newtonian hydrodynamics, provides a robust methodology to obtain stable and accurate solutions even in the presence of discontinuities. The knowledge...
